- Caption: "Kaffir plum fruits, Harpephyllum caffrum. Fruits showing the way they are eaten by Cape Parrots. The loose skin is ripped off in the bill and discarded; the tough, fibrous pip is opened by bill action in order that the small sliver of kernel may be taken out and swallowed. The husk is discarded. Loose pips and fruits shown on the outside; opened pips in the middle."
