- Title
- Job summit - reading pack: prepared for TCOE
- Description
-
This document is a Job Summit Reading Pack compiled for the Trust for Community Outreach and Education (TCOE). It was prepared as a preparatory resource for the 1998 Presidential Job Summit, drawing extensively on the 1996 report by the Commission to Investigate the Development of a Comprehensive Labour Market Policy (often referred to as the Labour Market Commission) established under the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC).
The reading pack serves as a strategic briefing for TCOE—an organisation with roots in the Black Consciousness Movement founded by Steve Biko—to engage with national debates on unemployment and labour market restructuring. It focuses on the transition from apartheid-era industrial relations to a "comprehensive labour market policy" that balances economic growth with social equity and the protection of vulnerable workers. - Subject
