- Note on the back: “Photo of original plaque erected on Settler’s Tower, City Hall, Grahamstown by the City Council at the instigation of the SA National Society (E. Prov. Branel). NB the incorrect spelling Commemoration – the plaque was replaced some months late by a corrected version. 1942". The plaque reads: “To commemorate the heroic ride of Dick King from Port Natal to Grahamstown, May 26 to June 4, 1842, Which led to the relief of the British Garrison at Durban.”,Plaque in Grahamstown commemorating Dick King’s ride in 1842.
