Abstract
-
This digitised archival document records the Rhodes University Graduation Ceremony held on Friday, 13 April 2007, at 18:00 at the 1820 Settlers National Monument in Grahamstown. The sixteen-page programme includes the order of proceedings, university leadership and faculty deans, and lists of graduates receiving undergraduate, honours, postgraduate diploma, master’s and doctoral qualifications. The document covers the Faculty of Commerce, with qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Accountancy, Business Science, Taxation, Financial Markets, Management, Information Systems and related disciplines. It records postgraduate research on subjects including sustainable development in South African mining, microfinance in Kenya, knowledge-worker retention, environmental sustainability reporting, mobile commerce, financial-market behaviour, organisational leadership and succession planning in Black family-owned businesses. The programme also documents Vice-Chancellor’s awards, academic honours and colours, and an extensive range of scholarships, bursaries and prizes, including Andrew Mellon Foundation postgraduate scholarships, Rhodes University scholarships and the Rhodes Foundation Scholarship for the most outstanding graduate. As a primary institutional record, this document supports the verification of qualifications, academic distinctions and awards, research into graduate biographies, and the preservation of Rhodes University’s academic and institutional history in 2007.
