Description
This Blue-Grey Chinese Qi Pao jacket is made with dupion silk, which has a bumpy texture. The jacket also includes a Chinese collar and a closure that extends through the bust down to the right side seams. This closure includes six Chinese button knots. The jacket features gold hand-painted detailing and bias binding along the collar and the sleeves. The jacket has slits on the sides. '"Qipao" broadly refers to the traditional dress, while "Cheongsam" denotes explicitly the modern, form-fitting version popularised in the early 20th century. The Cheongsam, with its high neck and slits on the sides, is a more modern and stylised adaptation of the traditional qipao.'-Linqo Ace. Condition: Decent with visible discolouration. This is an item from the Post-Graduate Wall, meaning the item has been bought or made for a Post-Graduate production. The item cannot be destroyed or adapted as the costume is meant to be preserved following the project.
