There are several songs of this nature to be found in Africa where the newly married girl is accused by her sister-in-law of being lazy and not doing her share of the hard work, such as hoeing in the fields. Here among the Pedi as elsewhere the women are the agricultural labourers. "Hoe kill me. My in-laws say I am lazy. And I am useless. Hoe kill me." Hoeing song
