Description / content note: Nyamwanga was a Hima king of Ankole who used to raid the Ganda people of the lake districts before 1890 when the English took over the Protectorate. The rattles are flat containers made of stout grasses inside which wild canna seeds are thrown to and fro. They are held flat between the palms while the fingers may tap the lower side to enhance the main pulses or to syncopate the rhythm. Ekitagururo dance song, with conical drums, laced, single, played with sticks, and three earthenware pots and raft rattles.
