Bushman's Bridge over the N2 between PE and Grahamstown View of river with water backing up from a weir behind the photographer. Compare with photo 8 months earlier, the river bed was bone-dry and weed-covered.

Bushman's Bridge over the N2 between PE and Grahamstown Example of survival under severe and unnatural circumstances. A Coral Aloe, Aloe striata perilously perched on the vertical slope of a donga. A few others of its kind were growing nearby in more favourable situations.

Bushy slopes of Alicedale Poort on the Bushman's River beyond the railway line Heavy stand of Spekboom throughout. Both slopes of the poort were equally as heavily in flower (Portulacaria afra).

Cape and Gurney's Sugerbird habitat, Hoho Peak, Pirie Mountain, King William's Town, Ciskei, 1402 m asl Looking westwards from top of Hoho Peak (Pirie West Peak) over Protea thickets in immediate foreground to the mid-picture ridge covered in Cliffortia fynbos and which might once have held dense Protea subvestita and /or Protea multibracteata thickets. Some of the latter still growing below the subvestita thickets there. iNtaba knNdoda Peak in distance.
