The Assegaaihout tree, Curtisia dentata, still grows there.

At ebb-and-flow of the Swartkops River just below Perseverence, the farm formally known until about 1820 as Zwartkops Wagen Drift Waggon traffic had perforce to cross the river above the ebb-and-flow.

At the ebb-and-flow bridge on the Kieskamma River, East London - Peddie boundary On the krans in the background are at least 32 nests of black-headed Herons yet, on top of the krans is a thicket of tall Euphorbias on which the birds could have built comfortably more in conformity with their usual habit of nesting in trees.

Beachfront lawns, Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth Spread of Gynandriris cetacea. Much of the lawn area along this strip between Retief Plein & the sea had spreads like this. A patch of Cape Weed, Arctotheca calendula in foreground, also widespread at this time.
